Guna (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 22 (ANI): Police have registered a case against a missionary school principal for allegedly snatching the mike from a student who was reciting Gita verses instead of the English poem he was expected to recite in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna.
During a programme held at Vandana Convent School, the student recited Gita verses in Sanskrit instead of reciting the poem in English. Principal Sister Catherine objected and allegedly snatched the mike from the student’s hand.
The controversy deepened as soon as various student and religious organisation got involved in it. Students associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) surrounded Vandana Convent School and created a ruckus.
The protestors sat outside the school gate and sang bhajans and raised slogans. After this, heavy police force was deployed on the spot. The ABVP demanded that an FIR be registered against the principal of Vandana Convent School, Sister Catherine for snatching mike.
After this, on the complaint of a school student, the police have registered an FIR against the school principal Sister Catherine in the City Kotwali for hurting religious sentiments.
Guna Police ASP Mansingh Thakur told ANI, “After the uproar and protest by the student organisation, the police took cognizance of the matter and registered an FIR against the school principal. The matter is being investigated.”
More details into the matter is awaited. Further investigation is underway. (ANI)
