Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], October 19 (ANI): In a bid to strengthen law enforcement and community ties as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav in the wee hours of Saturday undertook a surprise tour as part of ‘Night Domination’ across four districts in the state to inspect various Nakas and Police Stations while directly engaging with officers and citizens.
The whirlwind nighttime visit in districts including SAS Nagar, Ludhiana, Khanna, and Fatehgarh Sahib, was aimed to assess the effectiveness of night domination operations, besides, reviewing the working of special checkpoints and monitoring on-ground police work.
During his tour, DGP Gaurav Yadav interacted with citizens to gather first hand feedback on their experiences with the police.
“I am glad to learn that the public feels safer with our increased presence. Our goal is to ensure citizens’ security and build trust through transparent and accountable policing,” he said.
He also engaged with police officers at the cutting-edge level, reviewing the working of special checkpoints and encouraging them to maintain high standards of professionalism. “These special vehicle checks will continue to ensure enhanced security and effective law enforcement,” he emphasised.
Reiterating that curbing street crimes and eradicating drugs from the state as top priorities of the Punjab Police, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that recently Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) were tasked to tackle such crimes professionally and ensure prompt registration of FIRs in such cases. Punjab Police has been identifying crime hotspots, including snatching points, so that police patrolling could be reoriented to prevent these crimes.
“For the last few weeks, I have been actively visiting police stations, interacting with the force, and holding public meetings to boost police morale and strengthen the bond between police and community,” said the DGP, while reaffirming the aim of Punjab Police to provide active policing to the people of the Punjab.
The DGP also assessed the effectiveness of crime combat apps including VAHAN and PAIS (Punjab AI System) at the ground level. (ANI)
